About Me

Hi, I’m Rebecca Burwell.

Rebecca Burwell student career advisor

After 20+ years in the field of career counselling, I am still passionate about helping young people figure out their future direction.

I know how it feels to be confused, with a passion to do big things. I do this work because I want people to be happy in their work lives, and I believe they are more successful and joyful when employing their gifts. I don’t like to see young adults struggling to figure out ‘what they want to be when they grow up', feeling underemployed, or struggling in a toxic workplace.

Work is a huge portion of our lives, and quality of life is intimately connected with work satisfaction.

The wrong job or type of work drains energy, time, and happiness from your life. When you don’t like your work, the repercussions are massive – the dissatisfaction spills into other areas of your life, affecting relationships, mood, and general wellness. And sadly, so many people are miserable at work. Fortunately, when you feel fulfilled and enjoy your work, it radiates through your whole life, and you feel positive, engaged, and happy.

My goal? I want to help you find work that is meaningful and fulfilling to you.

It’s a big deal — and I love helping you move forward knowing that you’ve got this!

This is my passion. Let me help you take the steps to discover yours.

Experience

Over the past 20+ years, I’ve advised hundreds of young people at the University of Toronto, the University of Waterloo, and Sheridan College — and through my private practice. I now choose to work entirely in private practice because it enables me to really dive in with each client, immersing myself in the process and enabling me to create the biggest possible impact with each person I work with.

Besides one-to-one advising, I also served as a Faculty member at Conestoga College in their post-graduate Career Development Professional Program for over a decade, teaching several courses per year on topics such as employment trends, diversity, and career counselling techniques.
